Doug Gadow
has been visiting Lake Tahoe since 1991 and on a
good year was at the Lake 42 weekends. He is pleased
to join the Gary Davis Group as Senior Engineer and
Manager of the Structural Department. Having
previously practiced in the San Francisco Bay Area,
Doug specializes in wood-framed construction,
earthquake engineering, historic preservation, and
structural investigation of both defective
construction and failures.
Doug is a licensed Structural Engineer, and a member
of the American Society of Civil Engineers,
Structural Engineers Association of California, and
the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. He
earned his Master degree in Structural Engineering
at the University of California, Berkeley and earned
his Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from
Seattle University, graduating summa cum laude.
Prior to attending a university, Doug framed houses
and worked as a carpenter for over six years.
With a background in construction and structural
investigation, Doug has developed the insight to
design appropriate and buildable details. He enjoys
collaborating with both architects and clients to
meet their needs in thoughtful and creative ways,
especially if it means ‘thinking outside of the
box’. His designs have been repeatedly applauded by
his clients and have won several local and
state-level structural engineering awards.
In his free time, Doug can most-often be found on
one of his mountain bikes but also loves to ski,
snowboard, and road-bike.
