JOHN KLOPF

John Klopf is a licensed architect with 14 years in the field. He owns Klopf Architecture in San Francisco and consults with the Gary Davis Group on various projects. He lives, along with his wife and their two-year-old son, in San Francisco’s Mission District, and practices in the same neighborhood. John has completed projects ranging from residential remodels to new homes to commercial renovations to tenant improvements for numerous clients. Where appropriate, he includes sustainability and green building practices in projects – much of the time at no expense to the owners. John was born in Cleveland Ohio, received his Bachelors degree from Harvard, then earned his Masters of Architecture degree at Berkeley. He has also studied at Nanjing University in China for a semester.

John is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Architects / Designers / Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR), the Better Business Bureau, the Eichler Network, and San Francisco Planning + Urban Research (SPUR). Among Johns interests are traveling – while at Berkeley, he won a competitive travel fellowship for nine months of independent architectural study in Japan and Europe, during which time he focused on how architects throughout the ages have brought light into spaces and onto building materials. John is also a black belt in Cuong Nhu martial arts with 20 years of experience, a brown belt in Judo, and a skier and mountain biker.
