Once the home of a fine home furnishings store located in the heart of Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s north shore, this nearly historic structure was purchased and renovated into a thriving real estate and vacation-home rental office. But it wasn’t easy.
The building is comprised of three structures - two recent additions (15+ years apart) have been added to an original wood-framed home. Code compliance extended into every facet of the renovation including modifying the building to meet all Accessibility requirements. Two new restrooms, a conference room, and a sweet suite for the President of the young company round-out the lower level. The entry was changed and an exterior wheelchair ramp was added. On the upper level, a full kitchen was added along with a new bathroom for the nearly-dozen employees.
Skillful building and renovation by Saxe Construction is seen throughout but highlighted in the lobby (photo at left). The owners were involved thoroughly in the interior finishes. Gary Davis Group extended their design and engineering expertise not only with the building and permitting but also into the parking lot by providing Tahoe Luxury’s sign. It’s representative of a traditional real estate sign but employing a rich palette of stone and steel to reflect the Tahoe Luxury Properties’ quality of service and local success.
